Professional authors ignite storytelling with fun challenges, by reading passages from books, and guiding young writers. TKP Associate Writers (published HS and college students) are on hand to inspire storytelling and artwork design techniques.

About the Authors

Warren Lewis
Warren's credits as a screenwriter include Black Rain (Paramount) and The Thirteenth Warrior (Touchstone). He has worked on assignments for most of the major film and television studios including Sony, Warner Brothers and Fox. Warren’s recent scripts include A World Away – a modern retelling of The Dybbuk, Ansky’s classic play; The Brownsville Boys: A Tale of Murder Incorporated; Trade Craft, an espionage thriller; The Tale of the Bloodstone Riders, a western set in post-civil war Texas, See Me, an erotic thriller and The Point, a one hour drama set in the United States Military Academy.

David Tabatsky

David is the author of Misfits, co-author of Dear President Obama: Letters of Hope from Children Across America, The Boy Behind the Door: How Salomon Kool Escaped the Nazis, and So Much for Happy, a young adult novel. David has taught writing in many New York City public and private schools, as well as theater and circus arts, at the American School of London,

Melissa Lauren Powell
An enterprising performing arts teacher in Brooklyn, New York and author of The Tongue Twister Competition, released by Mascot Books. She aspires to empower the youth through the arts, instilling a creative outlet for children to thrive and go far beyond their wildest dreams. As a little girl, Melissa loved spelling bees and competitions. She especially loved practicing tongue twisters with her mom such as Sally sold sea shells by the sea shore. Those experiences gave Melissa the incentive to write her first children’s book. She resides in Brooklyn, New York, with her daughter, who also shares her love for eloquently tackling tongue twisters.

Iago Macknik-Conde
An award-winning teen poet, tutor and facilitator of creative writing workshops. Iago’s writing explores different topics and genres, including poetry, memoir, critical essay, fantasy and humor. He is the 2020 Ned Vizzini Teen Writing Prize winner for Middle School Poetry (Brooklyn Public Library, Teen Writing Contest) and the 2019 National 7th Grade Winner of the Student Essay Contest hosted by the National World War II Museum. He has also won Gold and Silver Keys from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Most recently, Iago has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, and been recognized with the Youngest Tutor Award for the school year 2020-2021 by Reading Partners New York.
